There's an even more interesting airplane behind. I think many people would be surprised to learn where it was actually built.

If you were referring to the 1930's Japanese long range mail plane then you were not alone in initially thinking that. The second cockpit in front of the DF loop ruled it out though. I cannot remember what its name was and that is bugging the heck out of me.

As promised, here it is. Replica Tupolev ANT-25 'URSS N025'. The Tupolev ANT-25 was a record breaking long distance aeroplane, two of which were built in the mid 1930's.

ANT-25 if memory is correct. A replica, as no originals exist, unless we ever find the one lost in Alaska.
This is the second mockup ("technological replica" according to information from the Design Bureau - it is not quite clear what this means), which was manufactured in 1989 at the Tupolev Design Bureau Experimental Plant. And the first mockup was built in 1978 in Prenai, Lithuania at the Sport Aviation Factory for filming a biopic about Tupolev.
The original Gromov crew plane that flew over the North Pole to the United States, as well as all production bombers of this type (DB-1, ANT-36), were used as targets for bomber crew training during the war and were lost.
The N-209 airplane (four-engine, DB-A of Bolkhovitinov's design) with Sigizmund Levanevsky's crew disappeared in the Alaska area (presumably).

P.S. The ANT-25 (RD, RD-2) airplane had another designation - TsAGI-25, it was used after Tupolev's arrest in 1937.

The Koken made its first flight on May 25, 1937, it has nothing to do with the development of the ANT-25.

The ANT-2 looks a lot like an Aeronca C-3. But the prop on the C-3 turns the right way.
A more correct wording would be "Aeronca C looks similar to ANT-2" as ANT-2 is about 5 years older. The ANT-2 was created just to develop metal construction technology. The ANT-2 was powered by a Bristol Lucifer engine.

I am sorry if I inferred that the Koken was in any way related to the ANT-25.

I was just saying that at first glance that is what I thought that aircraft was. As I also said the second cockpit and DF loop almost immediately corrected by first impression.

I recently saw a good video on that aircraft which was most interesting but it was at the local library when killing time so I have no idea on what web page I saw it. The original concept was a 1200 hp turbo Pawnee like design, but then the soviet government got involved. It had some very interesting design features like augers in the hoppers and the dust being dispersed from three outlets near the wing tips and all the transfer being inside the wing.

Not only that it had ugly problems like thrust line too high and in a emergency when you dumped the load often only one side would dump with predictable results. If I remember right not one made it to its first scheduled major inspection.
