The Blackburn Sydney (serial N241) was a long-range maritime patrol flying boat developed for the Royal Air Force in 1930. After evaluation, it was not ordered into production and no further examples were built.

The Anson is far roomier than I expected. No wonder that it was used for many different trainings

It is roomy but it is also a bit of a pig to move around in. To get to the nose for bomb aiming or camera work you remove and stow the RH control column (showed stowed in that photo) then must fold and crawl under the rudder pedals. There is a large spar immediately behind the pilots seat and several other floor obstructions. The good thing is there were lots of tubes for hand holds and it was nice and stable.

I flew around as a passenger in this one several times and maintained it for several years.

Oh - and a video for those who do not know what a crosswind does - all filmed at the Wellington, NZ, airport and presented on airsidetv.com.

The 777 is the prototype and the reason it is towing a small drogue is because it was undergoing crosswind certification at the time.

Oh yeah. I remember riding a little turboprop commuter into Roswell NM at a 45 degree angle to the runway. I was looking up the runway from my window seat.
