I love this A-26B factory production shot. Note that it shows the airplanes are all all over OD, top and bottom, and that they have both eight gun noses and six gun wings. That big hatch on the Right side shows up well, too.

Another production shot, SBD-5's at the factory in El Segundo in 1944, the setting of the movie "Swing Shift." At one time I worked within about a mile of that place.
1944 ? These roundel types were used from june 28, 1943 to august 14, 1943.

The caption with the photo says 1944 but in fact the SBD-5 production began in Feb 1943, so the photo could well be in that time frame.

Polish pilots check their watches prior to take off from an airfield somewhere in Poland on September 10, 1939.
It is really cool pic. One of a couple that were taken at the Warszawa-Okęcie airbase on March 19 1939 but not on September 10 1939. The series of images shows the PZL 37 Loś of the 211,212, 216 and 217 bomber Squadrons the were the part of the 1st Regiment based in Warsaw-Okęcie and became the Bomber Brigade. All the bomber squadrons ( like all the Polish AF units ) were moved on August 31 1939 to the landing fields. The 211 and 212 Squadron to Dęblin-Ułęż and the 216 with 217 to the Dęblin-Podlodów. If you have a look at the ground you may notice that there is a water all around. So it can't be the September because the summer of 1939 was very warm, sunny and without rainfalls that came much later. The autumn weather with rainfalls came after the 10th September. Secondly the bombers wouldn't be parked in line abreast during the war. These were always dispersed and masked. So agian a sales gimmick

Here the airfield is even said to be the Mokotów Polish AF station but in the beginning of 30' the military airfield was decomissioned and all PAF squadrons were moved to the Okęcie. During the September Campaign the small flying club airfield was used by the 152nd Fighter Squadron and the 41st. Reconnaissance Squadron from the Toruń regiment.
These pictures were taken by a staff photographer, with the permission of the Polish authorities, at the Polish Air Force Station at Mokotow, near Warsaw. The Polish Air Force is highly efficient and is intensively preparing to play its part in the National defence should Poland be attacked. All planes are now produced by the Polish state, and a fine new Government factory adjoins the flying field. The factory includes staff dining rooms, has flats for the housing of employees and even has its own shopping centre. All the aircraft made there are of metal, most of which is mined in Poland.
