.
1948, not 1958.

VF-5A conducted suitability trials aboard Boxer from 10 March 1948 to sometime after 21 March 1948.

VF-5A was redesignated VF-51 on 16 August 1948.

VF-51 went aboard Boxer again in May 1949.

All FJ-1s were retired in 1953.

Boxer was the jet suitability training carrier in 1948-49.

Looks like a much larger drop tank than the earlier version.

The smaller ones look like leftover Lockheed P-38 tanks.

The photo appears to be looking forward, not aft.

I see:
F-4Bs, F-8Es (and/or RF-8As),
at least one A-1H, A-4Cs, A-5As,
And an E-1B in the far distance on the right.
I don't see any UH-2As.

Squadron list found here:

Deployments of USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65)

[GreenKnight121]

Aside from CVN-65, USS Long Beach and USS Bainbridge running escort ... all three nuclear-powered ships.

Yep... they deployed on a "Nuclear Navy" PR cruise with no conventional escorts - CVN-65, CGN-9, & DLGN-25.

They would have had to wait until mid 1967 for the other nuke escort of the 1960s (DLGN-35 Truxton).

DLGN became CGN in 1975.
