Wonder why, they shortened the running gear from the bren carrier, wouldn't it have been smarter to keep it as it was, or was it too long?

Possibly something to do with the length of the forward prop shaft to the center diff - the original carrier running gear, unless shortened, might have given to acute an angle to the rear prop shaft, coming off the diff, to the track gear.
