Something else I learned - quite apart from invading Europe and all that, the Germans came up with some hellish tricky paint jobs. I did my best with a few bits of sponge and a bit of paint mixing to get the gradations, this means on some parts of the fuselage there are about 6 layers of paint and a couple of layers of varnish, hence the slightly rough and ready look.
As airframes said, it's all about patience, which I'm not big on. However seeing these things take shape over a matter of weeks is very involving and curiously satisfying.
WWII is my "theme" I guess, I don't like jet planes and went all teary eyed the first time I saw a Spitfire in flight.
