Thats one Tomo, I tried looking but my "google-foo" must be weak

The Idea may have been to modify existing airplanes?

But it does indicate where equipment had to go without extensive modifications to the airframe to keep the CG.

The turbo unit seems to take drop-tank place, so CoG shouldn't be an issue?
The new drop tank installation would've been necessity, perhaps like the one P-51 have had.
