I hate these automated checkouts. I much prefer going where there is a real person.
Call me old fashioned. I repaired computers in the USAF. If they ain't broke, they don't need me!

I am His GF--There is more on those automated check-outs--A lot of stores have taken them out due to Theft; People act like they are scanning an item but it doesn't catch as a sale, then the item is put in the bag; If People do that with the more expensive items, there is total loss for the Store and then higher prices even more for the rest of Us. Also if People really want to steal, I have heard of People watching for Big Sales on items and buy them cheap then return them to another store and reap regular full price--IE like take an item that is on sale for $5.00 somewhere but $15.00 elsewhere buy at 5 return for 15 One has just made $10.00 and the Store/s are out of the extra.

My daughter worked at a low end retail store. Shoplifting was blatant. People would load up a cart and just run out the door. Company "safety" policy said do not pursue.

A man was caught at Wal Mart using a barcode from a can of soup taped to his finger at the self chedkout. Suspicion aroused because of axcessive soup purchases. And no crackers.
