well not new kits but i have been moving factory units again sorting through many boxes i've had for years and came across a box of old rare kits i bought back in the early 70's including heller/frog test shots/airfix and contrail vac forms,also with them were some old kits in need of restoration,if anyone's interested i can post pics and lists of what i found all 1/72nd

Picked this colorful bird up... (Oh, the thumb is resin aftermarket, wrong scale though. Sending it back.)

The Defiant price isn't too bad, although still high. But why would someone pay £74.50 for the Battle, when Special Hobby do two very good kits at around £30 ??!!

The Airfix Spitfire Mk.lXc/XlVe arrived today for my GB17 build. After I removed it from it's shipping crate, large enough to ship a baby grand piano, the box seemed a tad heavy. There are three extra parts trees for, what I am assuming, some sort of conversions.
The extra parts are colored circles as follows: green-extra wheel halves not shown in the instructions, pink-what seems to be a seafire tail hook, black- extra upper wing halves without wheel well bulges, white- a third set of cannons, yellow-three pairs of wing tips, two for the models to be built, and one set that look like they are for a high altitude version, grey-not quite sure what these are but they look like inserts for a seafire version, blue-three sets of cannon covers, two are identical. Not shown is an extra propeller that seems to be identical to the other one. If anyone wants a better view of these parts, I'll take some picture when the lighting is better.

Geo, at the time this kit was first released, I suspect it was easier for Airfix to just bung in the sprue trees with all the parts meant for other versions. When they released their Mosquito B.MkXVI, the box contained almost a complete FB.VI as well !
I believe this practice ceased with later kits!
