hey fellas! a Hobby Lobby went up where a K-mart used to be in a town near me early this month, so I decided to check it out with my mother (haven't been to Hobby Lobby since I visited the El Paso branch in '08. they didn't have all that much for aircraft kits, but had an amazing array of supplies. I was gonna buy a Stinson along with this Stearman, but decided to save it for next time.

anyways, I'd been posting WIP pics on FB, and almost forgot about this place. lol what's wrong with me? (don't answer that LOL)

Nice Rob. Have one in the stash to be built as an RCAF bird. All build reviews I have read say that mounting the wings was a cinch. One did mention, however, not to trust the lengths of the rigging that Revell give you as they were a bit short in some cases. I'll be using stretchy easy line for mine.

thanks, fellas! I love painting radial engines <3 and if you do decide to get this kit, make sure it's Revell. you'll blow through it in no time! and someone said that puttying isn't really that necessary with this kit, but we'll find out sooner or later. I'll be painting it the Army Blue and Yellow. someone did say that my painting of the engine looks to be that of a modernized version of it, and that original Stearman engines had their engines painted all black. while that may be true, it just looked way too bland for my taste.

yeah, I will be rigging this kit. not my first rigging job, but my first one doing a full rigging on any aircraft. someone did say that the lines were too short, so I'd need to use a bow compass. anyone know where I can find one like this?: http://www.internetmodeler.com/artman/uploads/3/DSCN2818.JPG probably at any office depot or Staples, huh? as for line, I'll probably try the stuff that came with my Lindbergh Curtiss Jenny.

Thanks, fellas! The hardest part about this build is trying to figure out what to use for rigging. One person used 0.2 nickel, another person used .008 steel guitar string. I just boight a spool of .20 bead wire from hobby lobby. I've been hearing that the instructions don't give accurate lengths, so someone used a bow compass with toothpicks to measure the length.

good lord, Geo. that's incredible! o.o don't think I can go that route. lol what has anyone here used for rigging?

Prop is fully painted! I firstly went with an aluminum hub and blak baea and yellow tips, hen I decided togo with all chrome.....looked horrible, so I went with what I previously wanted. Looks great

I've completely assembled the engine and assembled the wings to the fuselage. The engine won't be installed until all painting and dealing is completes. Also, I've stuffed cotton balls into the cowling aand the cockpits to protect the already painted parts.
