RIP Richard Dawson

Most of us know of Richard Dawson's role as Pete Newkirk on Hogan's Heroes. But I also read that at the age of 14 he joined the merchant marines during the battle of the Atlantic. I also read that he was married to Diana Dors One lucky man!

So for his service

Saw this on the BBC News yesterday. He was from Portsmouth, UK, and the 'Merchant Marine' is more commonly known as the Merchant Navy in Britain.
