So here are some pics from our walk on yesterday (sat)
First a summary of our route, with distance, elevations and time taken.
My Daughter and I both carried about 10kg in training for our 3 day trek coming in 2 weeks.
Our starting point, marked by the green disc on the map above and continuing on past low force waterfall and out into the national park.
Crossing the very old bridge above and going south, we headed uphill.

On reaching the ridge line in the last picture, we turned west and headed higher up into the Hills.

We reached a pretty good track along the ridge still travelling west.
After about 4.5 miles we came across a series of streams rolling down the hillside and joining the river Tees.

We had to put Dawg down last June, doggy alzheimer's and a bad heart. When we took him to the vet, he acted like he knew it was over. He was 17

Just after the last picture was taken we came across the first of the afore mentioned streams.
These were much bigger than normal, swollen by recent rain and snowfall.
The first was pretty difficult to cross as the usual stepping stones were under some pretty rapid moving water.
I was half way across when stone i was standing on rolled over dumping me on my side in very cold water about 2 feet deep.
Fortunately i had a change of clothing in my pack, but stripping down to my boxers a hundred feet or so from a snow line was a bit cold !
Hence no pics of this point.

After my unplanned dip we first headed downhill then started the biggest climb of the route.
