Stirling from 295 RAF sqn., Rivenhall, East Anglia 1944/45.
Italeri set contains very good decals, photo etched parts and very bad "RMS Titanic-style" rivets and panel lines,
so I have made a new airframe surface (a lot of semi-fun with riveting) .
Many thanks. This one was laborious (surface, complicated undercarriage, engine+covers doesn't fit so good, bomb bay covers need to be handcrafted).
Comparing to other RAF heavy bombers, looks a bit odd, but I like it anyway. A crocodile.
Bit obsolete as bombers in Lancaster era, Stirlings were still used 'til end of the war in different missions.
"Glorious Beer" scoreboard prooves it:
-daggers- SOE (Special Operations Executive) missions in France,
-windmills- SOE in Holland,
-mountain - SOE in Norway,
-bombs - bombing raids,
-glider- glider towing in operation Varsity (Rhine crossing),
-bottom row daggers-SOE in Denmark,
Fantastic photo, thanks for sharing. Seems, there should be a "B" letter on the front....
