Heinz , you are correct, it is a Bomerang, here is a closer cropped shot, Wildcat should like this as I missed it earlier when posting some other Aussie stuff.
Great stuff Wayne. It is seeing models like that, that means I won't make any more models. I'll never be that good so it isn't worth trying, besides I do other things now...
I thought we went through the shiny justification. Unless I was mistaken, someone posted a good rationale for why shiny was historically accurate. News to me I might add. Was that theory debunked and I missed it?
Hi Matt308, the shiny was at the start of the thread, and still goes for early Japanese Navy aircraft, not so sure about Army aircraft, I think in this case of the Ki-44 (Army)that Wurger is right, the Gloss finish is probably not quite right being a natural metal japanese aircraft, mid war time frame.
To be honest I'm still convinced that the models of Japonese a/cs should be varnished with semi-gloss varnish not a gloss one.
There is a pic I've found somewhere via Internet (but I don't remember source). As you can see in the pic the metal covering of the planes is much more matt that gloss.Especially, that it is aluminium and rather it wasn't polished.
I would not have posted them in this thread but I wish I had my camera when I was at the mall the other day. The local modeling club had a RC plane show at the mall and it was amazing what they had.
There was a Do-335 that had a wing span of about 8ft I would say. They also had a Bf-109G and a P-51D in the same size.
The 2 that I thought were the coolest though were the jet powered RC planes that they had there. They had a Me-262 and a Sabre painted up like Erich Hartmanns Sabre. It was really cool.
