Strange P39 apparatus.

    It looks like a spin chute used for spin testing

    Thanks Flyboyj. Thats what i thought too. Its from a Russian report. I would think it would slow the spin so the pilot could get out as the p39 had nasty spin characteristics . But if so the parachute had to be jettisoned?
    And what would the wooden like blocks on the tail be for?

    And I'd guess that white box on the elevator would be a control position sensor?
