Steady progress is being made. Two days ago the wings were attached to the fuselage. A pretty good fit with just a tiny bit of filling required along the joint.
Then yesterday I attached the flaps to almost complete the wing construction. Attaching the landing gear, landing light etc will wait until after painting.
The prop and spinner are painted and assembled and will be put in place after painting of the aircraft. I am awaiting the after market decals before applying prop decals as I do not trust the old set that came in the box.
This has been an excellent build so far. The next step will be filling the radio mast hole and drilling two holes for the two masts required for this aircraft.

Test fit them last night and they went in easily so no worries but thanks a ton for the heads up.

Lots of progress this weekend so far as the weather here has pretty much crapped out my plans for making maple syrup.
A coat of grey as primer.
Followed by some aluminium
followed by some olive drab for the anti glare panel.
the overspray on the wing has been taken care of
and her identity starts to be revealed.
I have not yet attached the elevators due to the finicky nature of the striping. I test fit them and they are a pretty good fit so I would rather live with the tiny gap then try to work the decals around all the edges and curves. The extra UHF radio masts were installed as the 457th FS was a long range escort unit. The second dorsal mast came from the spare parts box and the underside mast was made using a toothpick. I hope to be able to finish up the decals today, attach the drop tanks and other sundry bits and end it all by installing the canopy and propellor. It was been a fun built to this point but I feel the super tough part of matching up the stripes is sitting in the basement awaiting.

Nice, and quick, work Jeff. One thing regarding the prop - the roots of the blades should be level with the spinner.

I had a bit of a think about as to how the blades should be mounted as well. You should be able to run a sharp blade around the seam and pry the nose cone off. The blades are mounted on the step a bit further back than where you glued them. I really like the markings.

Yep, I realize that now and have pried off the cap and will change the blade settings. Thanks again. I didn't catch the step first time around.

Getting real close to being done. A few more decals, add a few smaller pieces and touch up a couple of thigs and she will be finished. Just took these picks 5 minutes ago.

So I was looking at the responses which I appreciate and my eyes were drawn to the photos again and then it hit me, the landing gear doors were installed wrong. This has been corrected and I have now finished the model and pictures will follow soon.
