Every once in a while, on a cold day, the local airport Automated Weather Observation Station gives the Density Altitude as something like "Negative 2,000 ft."

The local METAR for RDD today is showing -406ft. DA.

The other day, it was showing "Broken Broken Overcast" and -416ft. DA.

I hate it when the overcast breaks, it's such a pain in the ass to fix...

I think when you break the sound barrier you break the overcast, too. We do hear quite a few sonic booms around here these days.

Has anyone ever said, "We can't take off! The Density Altitude is too negative!"

Admittedly there was a period some time back where they had an unusually strong high pressure area in Alaska and the FAA grounded all aircraft because the altimeters could not be properly calibrated.

Here in Redding, Benton Field (O85) sits at 723ft. ASL and during summer, the DA can be impressive.

Several summers back, the air temp was 115°F, calm and conditions were such, that the DA was well over 4,000ft.

Second day of the ice-storm here. I called out, the oak I parked under sagging around my truck. No damage.

My Mom, who lives in Lufkin, hates Texas weather.
She was born in Southern Oregon and lived there and California for over 75 years before being pressured into moving to Texas recently, by my sister.

I've been housebound by ice since Monday morning. The company finally closed all facilities yesterday, but going to reopen for 2nd and 3rd tonight. We've had freezing rain off and on since Monday morning, and I've seen ice on roads way before temp history says we should have it.

My sister in Eastland is home bound due to the ice as is my son and daughter in Austin, chilly here in Houston area but no ice. We just have the Oregon weather I grew up in, drizzling rain and chilly temperatures.

I woke up this morning to numerous fallen oak limbs littering the back yard, I'll post a pic before cleaning up. In terms of damage to our trees, this storm has been far worse than Feb 2021.
