This is oak, I'll cut it into chunks for smoking meat on my grill.

I'm not much into using Oak for the smoker or BBQ because the tannins can be tricky to work with.

I like to use Mesquite or a blend of Mesquite and Hickory.

A balmy +4C here .... a Chinook is blowing, so it's crazy-windy. A price worth paying, 'cos when it stops, it'll be back to seasonal February temperatures (i.e. -20C to -30C)... sigh. Might go for a spin on the bike for a bit

Second day of the ice-storm here. I called out, the oak I parked under sagging around my truck.

I usually use mesquite or pecan for smoking. Using oak, I will often pair it with mesquite.
