I moved here in 1993 and can only recall one incident prior to 2017 that caused smoke in the city. Now it's an expected part of our summers and will be so until all of the trees have been destroyed. Very sad.

Agreed - I cycle a lot .... we lost 4 weeks of racing last summer to awful air quality from fires. this year, we've lost one week, but even now, I can smell smoke in my house. Supposedly, the current smoke clouds are coming up from Montana, but there are 400 active fires in AB right now. As Crimea River pointed out, it absolutely dd not used to be an issue. Sigh........
