Glad you made it!

Thanks Adler.

I have to say it was a unique experience looking in my mirror and seeing chunks of tread flying around.
Having a tire fall apart didn't affect the ride either.
It felt pretty much the same, bumpy, bouncy and rough.

I dunno. I once spun the rear bearings of a F-250 only to look in the mirror and see wheel, tire AND axle coming out about 4 feet from the truck. It took a 7-11 to stop me. :)

Thanks everyone.
I agree it could have been much much worse.
The only damage I can find was to the rim and the tire.
I know I was going at least 50 when I noticed it so the minimal damage is a great relief.

I am looking at it from the standpoint "Any landing you can walk away from..."
and how could anything bad happen to me on Lucky 13 day.

Jezuz! Glad you are OK! With all these stories about F trucks, I'll have to be careful if I do decide to purchase the one I have my eye on!

Thanks Vassili. :)
I'm very happy it worked out too.

I can't blame the truck Screaming Eagle.
I've had it since 93 and this was the first blowout I've had with it.
The truck had been sitting for a while and the tire was very low in air pressure.
I went to the gas station to get gas and put air in the tire.
The tire blew after I put the air in it and I was getting on the freeway.
I am thinking that the tire got damaged by my driving with it low to the station.
It's just one of those times that all of the conditions necessary for the situation occured in just the right manner to have it happen.

It looks like I'll just have to do a better pre flight in the future.

Or were you just burning the tires off of it and it could not take anymore.
