Had a minor fender bender on Friday.
Took it in for an estimate today and within minutes the insurance company declared it a total loss. F*** them! I'm not giving it up. It's perfectly drivable. Just a bit of damage to the rear quarter panel and cracked tail light.

I do not see your Customised by Crunch bumper sticker or haven't you fitted it yet?

This past weekend I started feeling pain in my groin. bad. Like my absent appendix burst (that was handled in 2009). So I drove myself to the hospital. After 6 hours waiting in the Lobby, I left. They wanted me to sign a paper that I was going against medical advice but then blankly stared when I told them no doctor had seen me so what advice were they talking about? Tuesday I went to an Urgent Care where it was diagnosed as diverticulitis. Great. On meds and at home. Hate getting old. I post on Facebook my medical travails only to have 2 random dickheads post with scamming clickbait. I can't believe that FB will be quick to ban me for 3000 years if I even think about posting something questionable but lets these guys prowl the Net looking for victims. And they know about it. I've reported several douche canoes like them before but FB says they can't find a violation of the rules. Yeah, I'm in pain and I'm pissy at the moment.

FB gets revenue for clicks. So spammers are welcome.

Parents trying to get as kid moved and involving my and my co-teacher in the middle. My big boss sent me an email about it and I told her what has been going on. Seems the parents have been busy as well, several it seems.

FB changed the rules under pressure of the new US government and supposedly hardly moderate anymore. So anything goes now on FB apparently, just like on X.

Get well Chris.

We must have completely different insurance companies if they call that a total loss. Here are pictures of my truck after a collision with a deer about a month ago. Cost just under $9500 US Dollars to repair and they said it didn't even come close to being totaled. I asked about this and he said generally in Minnesota it has to have damaged nearing 70-75% of the vehicles worth or what they could get for Salvage. I'm sure there are other factors involved.

Greg: I'd spend the $ and have someone do a 4 wheel alignment check. Could be the camera angle, but that corner's suspension looks like it might be tweaked a bit.
Funny you should mention that. The hood was dented and pushed up so you may be seeing that? After the repair shop was finished with the repairs they took it out for a test drive. They called me and asked if the truck had a pull to the left before the accident, it did not, so the did an alignment. Drives nice and straight, I went to a large empty parking lot and got up to 50 MPH let loose the steering wheel and hit the brakes, still went nice and straight. So got that covered.
They also put in a new radiator (it was dented in about 3 inches, now get mush better heat from the heater without having to crank it on high.

Maybe. I don't feel anything when driving.
As to why the insurance declared the car a total loss, it's because the repair estimate of $5500 exceeds the appraised value of the car ($4800). It's 12 years old with nearly 200,000 miles on it. I don't plan on fixing the dented quarter panel. Just replace the cracked tail light assembly to avoid a ticket. My brother, who is the car guy in our family offered to pound the dent out himself, so maybe.

That would explain it. Some translucent red tail light tape and maybe a little handyman's secret weapon, aka Duct Tape, and you'll be good to go.

Greg: Wouldn't have to be tweaked much to accelerate tire wear on that corner. When my bug got clipped, it tweaked the rear axle and messed the alignment up. Car drove straight, but it wore out a 70K mile tire in about 6K, until the new axle came in and I installed it.
