Today I got to experience driving on the newly reconstructed, or shall I say obstructed, main road through town. Whoever dreamed up the post-modern theory of road construction - less is more - is an idiot. Take a major arterial street, two lanes both ways with room for parking on both sides. Step 1. Remove a lane. Replace with a center omnidirectional "turn lane". Step 2. Tear out curbs and fill in parking lane. Call it pedestrian and bike friendly. Step 3. Remove turn lane. Place islands at intersections "for pedestrian safety".
Run a bus that stops at every corner down the street.

See who on the planning committee has cousins or brother-in-laws that run auto-body shops/car repair shops ;)

See who on the planning committee has relatives that are orthopedic surgeons and/or own rehabilitation clinics.

If the buses only run every 1/2 hour or less, see who runs a taxi company or Fleet of Ubers.

Somebody is making money off this and it is not the shop owners than have no on street parking in front of their stores/restaurants.
Many of these "plans" don't put in more parking (or enough) to compensate. Or put the parking blocks away. Then they wonder why people don't shop downtown anymore where it is "pretty".

School district as usually changes to a new payroll system near end of year. Turns out whoever puts in payroll failed to note I get paid the entire summer. So today, guess what? No direct deposit. It also happens they are closed on Fridays. I called REA and he said he can contact them directly. I can't describe how PO I am.

"Experten", used to describe someone with knowledge of Luftwaffe subjects. I'm not sure who began this trend - possibly done tongue-in-cheek but it's now passed into general usage. Deeply annoying since it now seems to be used without any sense of irony or history.

Hour and a half ago. Most times my anti-virus won't let me near the site forums. I will again be unable to again shortly

We still do these then-now pictures of my area and they are posted on Facebook. Now we get a lot of negative comments saying "it's fake", "AI", "it didn't look that way" etc. People don't seem to be able to read.

What annoys me most is that in this era of AI, people don't recognise manual work and efforts anymore and immediately assume something is AI.
