They don't do hometown recruiting anymore? When I graduated UH-60 Repairer School I got to go home for 21 days hometown recruiting before heading to my first duty station.

My son did that between boot camp and infantry school.

They still do. My son had the opportunity, but wanted to fleet up ASAP. He spent ten days here in May after Depot.

Mine was basically a 21 day free vacation. My hometown was in Germany so there was no recruiting to do… lol

Reporter that I used to know and work with was a real terror when it came to health inspection reports on restaurants. He'd rip them up one side and down the other about getting poor grades. On the other hand, if the place made significant improvements on their reinspection, he'd also give air time to that fact. Rather flamboyant guy, but heart of gold when it came to kids and certain causes... Marvin is also the one that go the "chicken ranch" in La Grange shut down. Most people know him for that.

My oldest is in town for the next week or so. So I get to hang out with him, his wife, and the grandbaby.

Ordered a copy of "Zanita a tale of the Yosemite" by Therese Yelverton Vicountess of Avonmore from Amazon. First published in 1872. First editions are way too expensive as there were only 2000 books in that run and a "fair condition" copy is $150.00. She became famous because of the Yelverton case in Ireland and then became an author.

My son earned his first aid qualification as part of his training cursus in simulated combat environment, in a mixed group of active and reservists attendants..
The conditions were so realistic that there were five wounded among the trainees...
