Back in the ER with the boss. 3 surgeries since March and at lease one in the spring. I hope she does not have to get two more this month. I am getting worn out. I waiting for the MRI, CT and lab reports.
 
I hope this does not cross any "Guidelines"...

What made me Sad, for this post was that the Terrorists in Iran, have condemned a Doctor to death, just because he was doing his duty, Saving lives!

IMHO not more details for the post is correct and enough. The thread is for what made you sad but not for the news.

It never ends. My wife has still not been placed in a room. No vacancies. They told us at 5 am we should have a room between 9 and 10. This is a huge hospital and there are no empty rooms. We are in an holding room in the ER. One bed and one chair. I finally laid on the floor and slept from 12:30 to 3:20 am. My wife need surgery. They told us it would be around 12:00. At 12:30 they started to wheeled her out to pre-op and the tech got an email saying the surgery been pushed back. The doctor is tied up on surgery. At lease we are not in a hall way for hours on end like during Covid.

Now the surgery will be tomorrow late in the day if they can get to her. It is not an emergency so we are 4 on the list for the surgeon. If he cannot no it, when will have to go home and make an appointment in the next two weeks. We are still not in a room and may not be able get one unless she has the surgery. I really needs a drink and an airplane fix.

It took 24 hours to get from the ER to a room. That sounds worse than it was. It not like people were stacked in the hallways like during Covid i curious if it was cause by the lack of rooms or staffing shortages. I am north of Houston in a major urban area. There are 4 major hospitals within minutes of each other plus several specialty hospitals. It was not like that when I moved here 20 years ago. I do have access to the best medical facilities in the country. I am better off than most people in the world.
 
DB: I can understand the frustration about growth. We moved to Houston in 1965 and everything ended at Rayford-Sawdust Road, going north, til you hit Conroe proper. Last time I was down that way, From north of Huntsville to Hobby Airport, there wasn't any open space anymore. Miss the old Camp Strake. Spent many a weekend and summer there.

I did not know you were also in the area. I live between Conroe and Willis. I moved to Humble to The Woodlands and then to my current location since the 80s. I just cannot get away from Houston's growth. I work in Huntsville and it is even reach that far north. The piney forest is being replaced by apartments, Mexican food restaurants and car washes. Hobby is a drive. That is where I saw B17 Thunderbird for the first time. The Lone Star Flight Museum was just starting and has not moved to Galveston yet. Time moves forward and now I am old. My brain is still young.
 
We moved out in 1980/81 timeframe. Dad worked for Texaco, in the Engineering department and had taken a transfer to Caltex when they moved their offices from NYC to Los Colinas. We lived right off West Belt Road and I-10, right at the western edge of Houston. WBR is now Beltway 8..... Used to ride my bicycle to Memorial Park and to downtown with a couple of friends before we could drive. Rode out to Eldridge Road to our gun club lots of times. No one blinked seeing a 13 year old on a bicycle with a rifle headed down the service road....Those were the days. :headbang:

The growth here outside Austin is awful. After my mother dies I will be moving out west, towards Big Bend. I want nothing to do with this "let's put the city everywhere!" approach. They've destroyed so much beautiful landscape here.

I know when I took my museum tour last year, the Pineys -- which I visited regularly as a boy, my dad's side of the family is from there -- were looking sad and somewhat shabby.

I understand. I always thought I would retire and move to New Mexico. I got married late in life and the boss said no. Make in 1982, I wanted to buy land and move to the Austin area. I was never in the position to buy and am glad I did not. I work for the state and travel to Austin at lease once a Year. Might as well be in Houston. The traffic is terrible and everything is a toll road. Really $35 to $50 a day for hotel parking.
