What made me sad today... (3 Viewers)

Mom was very out of it today, couldn't find the garage to get into the car for her dr's appt, talking to the robot vacuum cleaner like it was our dog. I hate seeing this descent of hers into senility. Dread settles over my heart.

That's tough, brother. Had to move my Mum into a care home in Jan last year. She didn't want to go but, thankfully, she now recognises that it was the right move for her. Her short-term memory is shot but I'm grateful there are still glimpses of the woman she once was.

It's dreadful seeing once-capable people becoming so diminished. Truly heartbreaking.

My dad passed this morning, after several months of decline, which went into a steep slide the last three weeks. It was a little unexpected- we thought he's still be with us a nother few weeks. He made it to almost a month past his 92nd birthday.

So sorry to hear that, Olaf. We know it was expected but that doesn't help much. I'm glad your sisters were able to get there and that you had this little extra time with him.

Hang in there, brother. It hurts right now but, hopefully, the pain can be offset by happy memories of your Dad.
