A while back I pointed out to my neighbor across the street that he needed to buy his own battery charger. He kept borrowing mine, and while I was Okay with that, he could not be sure I'd be home when he needed it. I said that Walmart had a nice looking one on sale, on-line, for a good price. And he said if I would buy it he'd pay me for it. So we did that. Then he informed me his wife had come home, said she did not like that model of battery charger ans they should get a different one. So I gave him his money back and returned the charger to Walmart for a refund; they allow you to return items ordered on the Internet to their stores.
What did they replace that battery charger with? Nothing! His wife did not understand what she wanted and her husband did not know where to buy it even if she did.
A year later a friend gave me a battery charger he no longer needed; it required some minor repairs. I had a charger I had found in a trash pile and repaired, including a poorly accomplished paint job (the spray can leaked all over the place) and it worked; I kept it in my airplane hangar. I replaced the hangar charger with the one my friend had given me and gave the old hangar one to my neighbor. He appreciated it and since he did not have to pay for it, did not have to clear it through his wife.
Last week my neighbor gave me a ride to and from my colonoscopy. Ollies had LED outdoor spotlight bulbs on sale for an attractive price so I gave my neighbor a box of them to thank him. He was highly pleased and went and bought more as well. Yesterday he brought the bulbs I gave him back, saying his wife did not like them and wanted a different kind. In all probability that means they will not get any at all.
It seems so common today for people, especially women, to reject something they don't like because they think there is something better, somewhere, and thus they end up with nothing, and for no good reason.
