More progress on the Monogram TBD. I was little frustrated with the wing root gap, then looked at full build review on another site: "The fit is generally good. The only exceptions are the wing to fuselage and stabilizer to fuselage joints. The wing joint is particularly bad as it needed shimming with styrene sheets." So I don't feel bad, but more work to do. Sometime I get half way through these nostalgia Monogram kits from the 60's and early 70's and think just build it, and don't worry, its not a state of the art modern Tamiya kit. There is going to be a lot of time to clean up the fuselage and wing roots.

I've done a couple of these, I had one I throw in the trash and took it out and stuffed fire crackers into it and BLEW IT UP. I've done two more that went together like a charm. Your doing ok.. Are fireworks legal where you live Joe, just wondering?

When I fitted the wings, that thought crossed mind, just toss it and pick up the Hobby Boss kit, and don't throw expensive paint on a poor kit. Paint seems to be the biggest expense for me when building a kit.

Get the GW kit. I did both for a GB a little while back. You should check it out. Might be helpful. I did the Monogram in Yellow wings and GW in Midway. You're doing ok. Like I said some for some reason are better than other, but I like the kit.

The B5N2s (2 from Hiryu and one from Akagi had their decals applied. The MYK decals for the Hiryu required a little more effort, but the Micro Sol made them behave. I think I am adding two cranes and some little extras to one side of the deck. Going to require some scratch building because it's tough to find such things in 1/144 scale.
