A BIG Thanks to…The Judging Panel for their time and effort !

Congratulations to all winners and participants. Well done !!!

Each build the job gets tougher and tougher for the judges. Throw in a large number of builds and it becomes monumental. Great effort all, lots of good builds, good advice and friendship along the way. Congratulations to those who placed in the top three of their divisions!

Cheers,

Jeff

Congrats to the winners and placers. A very tough judging once again. A reminder please to make sure that your finished pics conform to the GB requirements and that the photos themselves are clear, close, and well lit.

Just curious... what considerations would put the K-61 ahead of the G-10? I personally think the G-10 is a significantly better build than the K-61.

The judges don't share notes so I can't speak for the others but here's my take. Contrary to the notion that the Macchi was "significantly better", I found the two entries to be VERY close. I won't go into specifics as I would need to publicly point out some minor issues that I saw with Kirby's build and he did not ask for that input.

I didn't mention the 202 build as I did not want to bring other people's models into the discussion. Simply wanted to know what made my Ki-61 build, which was just a quickie that I threw in, better than the G-10, which I really poured a lot of effort into. Also noticed that the G-10 didn't get any poll votes either. Is there a flaw with that build or is it just a preference or style thing? Again, just curious.

John, you have to disassociate the poll votes and the scores your models got during the judging process. The poll bases on a quite easy way of the rating by other members. Just that's the "llke or dislike" way. Contrary to that the judging process contains more criterias including the appearance of a model as well. Therefore the two or more models of one modeller may get different number of points depending on the judge's.grading.IMHO the lack of votes for the G-10 could be because of slightly getting bored with LW kites.

Sorry John, I misread your post and thought you meant the Folgore. My bad.

The major weighting of the scores is on general construction. I noted the flaps to be at different angles and the wheels at different slants as well. Also felt the panel line treatment to be a bit too strong. Small things but when the entries are of such high quality, small things matter, especially if there are structural things. The Hien, however, had no such issues and I liked the overall appearance more.

Congratulations to all the winners, it was a great group build! Andy, I'm happy for feedback as I'm always looking to improve. I don't mind if it's here or by PM, whatever you're most comfortable with.

John both were excellent builds which makes our job all the more difficult, each Judge does there own judging without consultation this is the best way to ensure each is not swayed by another. We want the scores from their point of view and while we have a series of things to look at in rating our scores on the various aspects of the construction, painting, decalling and final appearance, the determinations are based on each reviewing the series of Presented pictures and build sequences along the way that we have access to.
We may not always get it right in the eyes of our modellers, but we strive to be as fair as we can in our environment.
In a number of cases these final placings are split by as little as half a point!
Each Judge will have certain things that they will look for beyond the general scope and guidelines and based on their modelling experiences this will also result in slight variations in ones point of view and final score. Some will see something another may not or vice versa so With 5 Judges this hopefully gives an even average spread that will still, in the end provide the right result in determining the placings......hopefully..:D
