Thanks guys, lets see started making seat belts i had some spare P.E. buckles used some foil and masking tape here what i got.



sprayed the red on for the band.



then the buff color.



is the band correct width.

 
AFAIK, there is no picture of Lothar's D-III. In the famous picture of the line-up, after the fifth aircraft it becomes too difficult to discern markings. So based on artist renderings, the stripe looks right. My question is, why didn't you do the wood finish before the stripe was painted?
 
My guess is Paul that wood painting has an oil base and other painting over it if of an enamel or acrylic would not sit too well and the oil in the wood paint would eventually seep through other paints.

It's just a guess mind!
 

As what Vic had said i also thought taping on the oils might not work out so well with lifting or tape pulling it off.
 
Almost ready to start the wood graining sprayed the slate gray on got some overspray on the engine should be able to touchup what a pain trying to tape.

Aye crossing fingers for your wood grain it can be a tough one on those surfaces.
 
Woody I've sent you a pm, could you send me the specific mark your thinking of doing for the Albatross? I recently went through my books and found a couple copys with some good austro-hungarian sources, amazing pictures in them was wondering if theres 1 specific pilot you'd be looking for
