Thanks guys,

Encountered a problem with the rudder after I glued it on to the fuselage.I discovered that there is no tab extending outward from the tail on the real aircraft. Damn what was Revell thinking. So, I removed the rudder, shaved down the tab on the tail and filled the gap in the rudder with some sprue I cut from the kit. Next, I will shape it, add some putty, sand and prime. Hopefully it will look okay. Stay tuned.

The tail showing the tab (yep, as usual I broke the tail wheel off during my painting sessions)

The Actual aircraft, a restored spitfire MKI/MKII

And an actual period aircraft to be sure.

The initial work on the rudder.

Good catch.
Note that by this period, it was likely that VHF radio was fitted, and therefore the aerial wire, and the rudder 'anchor' post for it, along with the triangular 'tab' on the main mast, would be omitted. However, check references for the actual aircraft.
