I recently purchased the Academy 1/72 P-47D (Razorback) kit, want to build a diorama depicting when P-47s were ferried to the Marianas on escort carriers. The 318th group P-47s launched off the Manila Bay because of Japanese aircraft in the area.

Has anyone scratch built an aircraft carrier deck in 1/72? I'm looking for tutorials and any other forms of help. Even original dimensions for the decking would be great.

We have a member that recently built a diorama of the Akagi during ops, including a portion of the flight deck, the tower and several aircraft preparing to launch.

The downside to this, is that most of his photos of the progress were lost at his photo-sharing site. The upside, is that there are several photos of the project nearing completion and of the finished job.

Go there ... <center>ESCALA ESPANOLA<center>: ¿De que color era la cubierta del USS ENTERPRISE a finales de 1943?

You will find there a bunch of interesting colour shots of the flight deck of the USS Enterprise CV-6 aircraft carrier. These can come in handy...

Have you Google what you are looking for? I swear I saw Squadron selling pre-made diorama bases like ww2 and modern USN flight decks as well as soviet airfield.

Thanks for all the replies. I've seen the aftermarket items and I want to try to build one on my own. The video link posted above is my inspiration for the build.
