H. Bartel's profile of Yellow 13 is wrong.......

Yellow 13 + ~

remember he is in 15th staffel of the IV./JG 27 was downed on 23rd Dec. 1944 in Bf 109G-10 with a US P-47 near Bad Godesberg.

looking for a pic of that A/C if there is one, doubtful though.

not sure if the yellow number and the ~ were outlined in black or just a solid yellow. most likely the wide green defense band on the fuselage is correct along with the black prop and white spiral

Thanks Erich, appreciated, so this is just an interpretation or a "possible" of his last machine then, is the style right on the "13" though?

What's your opinion on the other Yellow 13 from 15./JG53 then, any idea who the pilot was?

Edit: Sorry, that pic is in another thread... Here it is again...

the Eagel cals is correct very hard to say but in my opinion Bartels late G-1`0 number 3 probably would have been rounded and not the flat hard straight top. still looking to find more pics of the IV./JG 27 machines which are few in number. am pretty sure the 13 of Bartels would of been larger than the JG 53 109. and sorry no idea on whom the JG 53 109 pilot was.

E ~

Something like this one in numerals then Erich, this is supposedly also one of Bartels machines...Bf 109F-4 Wk.Nr.13169.

jan, hope you don't mind, but I got a new scanner for Xmas and to get used to it I'm scanning pics from some of my books and what better to start with than '13's!! Hope you don't mind if I post. :) Just checking to see how these come out.

These are from "Luftwaffe Fighters of NA and the Med" by Jerry Scutts and the "Jagdwaffe" series by Eric Mombeek. First up is a pic of Bartels crate.

Both Yellow 13's are associated with Wilhelm Crinius and carry exactly the same style of '13' the first one is his mount from the Russian front in August 1942...I am currently building this aircraft also......painted and at the panel lines Pastel stage.

...and just to annoy you Jan I have the kits and the markings to build Green, White and Black 13....:D

Lucky

what the heck is that black 13 - fw 190A ? someone must have been smokin some bad doobie to do that profile which is total bogus

I wouldn't know brother Erich...  I take your word over anything, so someone was high as a kite puffing away on some bad out of date pot, while doing this one then you say? Is the whole machine is something dreamed up in some pot affected dreams, together with John Lennon, Jim Morrison and the gang?

it's rather comical as it is suppose to be Werner Gerths black 13 of 11.Sturm/JG 3 taken a pic of while on A/F in July of 44. what they did do in the profile, I think was take JG 2 colors including the eagles head over the exhaust and put that over Werner's markings though the whole machine is goofed up.

Eagle Cals has the correct profile-decals I think; Neil P. and I did up his machine long ago on our debunked thanks to dog-poop, stupid AOL web site............

This one Erich? That's one h*ll of a difference! WTF were they smoking, doing this profile!?
