Appendix
1. The B29 crashed in the dock area of Kawasaki City. The plane was completely broken and the dead bodies of the airmen were hard to be recognized. But some pieces of the bodies were buried near the crash site by the Japanese people.
2. The remains of 5 bodies were found in an unmarked grave in a field near Iriegasaki, Kawasaki City. They were not placed into the grave in any particular order. Bits of metal werer found sticking in the bodies, an apparent result of the crash.
3. The remains of one body, which had not been buried, was recovered by
S/Sgt Harold Ellis, Provost Marshalls Office, 7th ASCA.
4. Wreckage of the plane was scattered around the area for about 300 yard
s or more. The largest piece of wreckage found was the top part of the vertical fin. The number '13' was in yellow on a blue background in the shape of a diamond. The lines of the numbers were about three inches wide and the numbers themselves about three foot high.
5. Following are bits of information found on remains or plane:
a. Boeing 7-1872-3
b.'Kay'on housing of engine
c.'Ship' #537' roughly painted in black on tow pieces of metal.
d. Tail System Control Box, Type:825899661, Serial#124325,
Order #W535AC32077, Spec. #GO 18393 B-1.
e. Bondix Scintilla, Type DF16LN-1, Spec. #AN5911A.(not
legible), 10-39625-2, Order #W330381688, Serial #90796.
6. According to the Japanese, two fliers parachuted from the plane.
One landed on the roof of a house then fell down on the road. The other landed in the ground of the Japanese Army AA unit. They were captured and turned over to the authorities.

The problem is with the horseshoe. The bomb payload of the B-29 had to be limited to a half of it if the bomber wanted to carry it.

The aircraft name is slang for Jake's Joint. Cpt Jacob Schad was the Aircraft Commander and the aircraft was his "Jernt".
