I do not know about this bird. Was is a light bomber or observation in addition to use as a trainer? US used this as an advance trainer, AT20.The Squadron Shop has announced this future release.

Wouldn't say No to one of these when they get down under, probably cost an arm and a leg but I can hop around.Airfix have announced a new kit, due in Autumn this year. A 1/48th scale Fairey Gannet AS1/AS4, more details on their web-site.
It looks to be very detailed, and should build into an impressive, and large, model.

I'd consider a direct pre-order through Airfix but the postage cost is GBP50..............................Not an option.Vic, the UK retail price is shown as £49.99. Seems a lot, but when you consider that their 1/48th Gloster Javelin was around £50 when first released, and is now £72, I suppose it's not too bad, given the average cost of such kits these days, and the worldwide recent price rises on everything.

They were developed for the Fleet Air Arm as a carrier aircraft during WWII for anti-submarine warfare but served well into the 1960's and you must remember, British carriers were like Dinky Toys against the American carriers so the tri-fould wing was a must. A funny looking aircraft maybe, sort of stumpy and fat but made one hell of a wining noise when fired up. I have a soft spot for these Fairey aircraft.Is it just me or does that look totally Rub Goldberg?
Fairey Gannets were brood mares used to provide an aeroplane when ugly was desired.Never said they didn't do their job well, just a Rub Goldberg way of making it happen, and yes i forget how much smaller British, well everyone's carrers are compared to the American CVA's.
