Very impressive aircraft; they've come a long ways since the old AC-47 "Spooky" from 'Nam. I understand that the latest variant, the AC-130U (the crews, apparently, have nicknamed it "The U-Boat"), can target the guns individually at different targets. If you're targeting a vehicle, you can actually choose which tire to shoot out, the front or the rear.

Rumor has it the latest variant will sport high-intensity lasers. Who woulda thought a 50-year old aircraft would be flying around with lasers in the 21st century?
