I don't see how it t can just go back to business as usual after that little display. After the march to Moscow in such rapid time, apparently regular units either joining or not putting up resistance, and it would seem the government in panic things cannot stay the same. Putin was made to look weak, it will destroy what little trust there is between units and surely the Russians will now start to pull decent units back for internal security?
 
Things do appear to be calming down in Russia, with indicators that Wagner forces are withdrawing:

Wagner troops have started to leave Rostov-on-Don, according Russian state-owned news agency Tass. Four pickup trucks have left, but tanks and other heavy equipment remain, it says.

For most of today, the southern Russian city was at the centre of Wagner's "mutiny". Wagner mercenaries entered the city in the early hours of Saturday and reportedly took over the regional military command.

For the entire day social media was awash with rumours of explosions and shots fired, along with videos of Wagner soldiers setting up posts in the city centre and warnings that Chechen troops were approaching to fight them off.


That said, the source appears to be Tass...so the opposite could be true.
 
The person who is likely to have a very difficult conversation is Dmitry Medvedev. A Russian blogger reported that the Deputy Chairman was one of those who flew to Turkey when the Wagner Group were closing in on Moscow.

I cannot see that going down well with Putin and I would give a lot to be a fly on the wall when they next meet.

There are many possible outcomes to this revolt, but Putin is unlikely to win in the long term, for today it was demonstrated that nobody is willing to die for Putin. Putin is weak, delusional and a nuclear danger. His closest aids are waiting to pounce. Even if Prigozhin is really withdrawing his troops (which remains to be seen, for both parties to the agreement are not renowned to keep their word), the sad spectacle of armed criminals, aided and abetted by Putin, marching on him is enough to do him in in the long run.

Anyway, all this is a boon for Ukraine. Any revolt, rebellion or violent change usually ushers in a brief partial paralysis of state. That's how Putin snatched up Crimea in 2014. Now it's Ukraine's turn.
