I don't have a lot of Jazz albums where I like most of the cuts, but I do like some singles. Here's a short list.
I cut my eye-teeth on this one:
Take Five from Time Out by the Dave Brubeck Quartet
Chun King from Guitar/Guitar by Herb Ellis and Charlie Byrd
Chun King from Chun King by the Bobby Timmons Trio
Three Kingfishers and Divided City from Bacchanal by Gábor Szabó
Israel from Israel by J J Johnson and Kai Winding
The one album I do like is: Several Shades of Jade by Cal Tjader
Speaking of single songs on an album, this one always stands out in my mind.
I bought the album on the strength of how much I liked this one song featured on it.
The rest of the album is all Jazz versions of popular rock songs, which is a format I'm not always happy with.
I still have the album, but really only like this one song from it, itself a remake......
