Turns out TODAY is Benny Goodman's birthday! Born this day in 1909 (so he'd be....111?)
Anyway, in celebration, I found this great ol' tv performance from 1959.

The songs are; Memories Of You, Don't Be That Way, Stompin' at the Savoy, On The Sunny Side Of The Street, Moonglow, One O' Clock Jump and After You've Gone.

The musicians are; Benny Goodman, Clarinet - Red Norvo, Vibraphone - Jack Sheldon, Trumpet - Flip Phillips & Jerry Dodgian, Saxophone - Bill Harris, Trombone - John Markham, Drums - Red Wootten, Bass - Jim Wyble, Guitar - Gene Dinovi, Piano....and tonight's boy singer, Mr. Perry Como. =)

Enjoy, and happy birthday Mr. Goodman! =)

...just arrived in the mail yesterday....

...a really great album; Undiluted, by The Wynton Kelly Trio.
Featuring Wynton Kelly on Piano, Paul Chambers on bass and Jimmy Cobb on drums.
Enjoy.

The original version of this classic Jerome Kern song, as it was originally presented, in the 1936 Fred Astaire / Ginger Rogers romp, Swing Time...
