Thank you for the last one, Elvis .
It was Stompin' At The Savoy that dragged me into jazz, many years ago. It was a record by a Soviet jazz group, probably by David Goloshekin. Bass and piano in the Stompin' puzzled me and made me save on my school breakfasts to buy more records. I was a teenager in the USSR whose musical interests were split between rock, classical, and (mostly dull and poorly performed) "soviet pop". Jazz showed me the ultimate freedom and helped me shed restraints and stereotypes.

That last one is a particular favourite of mine. Found it in the collection my boss kept in his office, when I worked at a music store in the late 90's. I used to open that store on Saturday's, so I'd come in early and bring a cassette tape from home. Then I'd pick out a record and record it on a stereo we had at the store (for customers, to try out records we also sold there).
