Had both mine done Oct/Nov '21.
It made a massive difference to my vision, for the better, I should add.

Done a little bit on the simpler areas of the tank, with the opening for the original side locker blanked-off, and the feed pipes from the individual tank cells to the pumps fitted on the underside. The kit part is designed with a branch off to the side to the original pump housing, but as this will not be seen, I used the part as provided. Only the front section of pipework will be visible under "normal" viewing conditions on the completed diorama.
Depending on how the eye surgery goes tomorrow, and what the surgeon suggests regarding eye strain etc, if I'm able to see clearly, and not cause too much strain, I hope to get the tank area completed over the course of this week - if the required plastic stock arrives, allowing for the Christmas mail.

Just got back from the eye op, which was a piece of p*ss - there three hours, but the op itself only took about 15 minutes.
Very nicely done, and didn't feel a thing. Surgeon said it had went well, although now, 2 hours later, it's a little uncomfortable, like there's a bit of dust in the eye, but that's probably normal and aggravated by having an eye patch taped in place, so watering a bit.
Looking forward to seeing (pun intended) how vision is tomorrow.

Wonderful project Terry.
I saw somewhere turret replacements for the Monogram kit that were not Kostner. I also remember a conversion kit to change the nose from a J to an H. I'll see if I can find it again.

The un comfort is normal. My love had to have both eyes. Minor , as you said, dis-comfort. In her case it was 2 or 3 days. Only rest dis pleasure is with driving, but a good, in her case yellow glasses, will do that trick. And that is when it gets dark when lights go on.
Vision will be a lot clearer. Colours depending will be very good too.

I found the one I had remembered but unfortunately, it's no longer available. I think this guy made up the kits on demand. He had a lot of other stuff including full kits of the XP-72 and the XP-37. He has nothing listed right now so maybe he's just taking a break and will be back. He's one of my saved sellers so if I see him list it again, I'll give you a shout.

Joining a little late Terry but have gone through the great work you've achieved thus far. An ambitious project that I know you will pull off with your usual fine craftsmanship. Glad the eye surgery went well. So now you'll talk like a pirate for a few days I suppose!

Good to know that the minor discomfort is normal and hopefully short duration. I've already noticed an incredible difference, even through the transparent eye-patch distortion - with my right eye, my desk lamp light beam looks "warm", i.e. yellowish, but with the new lens in the left eye the lamp light looks like bright daylight, blueish !

Found that contact on FB that Glenn mentioned, and asked if the turret parts are still available - awaiting a response.
Strangely, all USAAF code letter decals I need are no longer in production. I'm hoping that some 1/32nd scale RAF Medium Sea Grey codes will work for the "E8" codes on the B-24 fuselage, if they aren't too dark in shade, otherwise I'll have to reverse mask and then paint them.
I've found some black letter decals and black stripes in my files that can be used for the "G+" on the fins, so I should be OK I think.

The fuel tanker, continued ....
The difference in my eyesight is incredible, after the fairly quick deterioration over the last three months. As instructed, I cleaned the eyelid with the provided saline solution this morning, and applied the eye drops, and there are no ill effects or discomfort - brilliant !
Consequently, I bashed on with more work on the fuel tanker, and I've almost finished scratch-building the pumphouse fittings.
The pump section from the Revell kit has been used, and added to using tube, rod and punched card to create the right-hand side of the plumbing.
It's not totally accurate, and is slightly off-centre on one side, but, once painted and sitting in the depths of the pumphouse section, it should pass muster, especially as, once on the diorama base, only part of this area will be clearly visible, from limited angles.
Sockets for the air brakes and trailer electrical connections have also been added to the front of the tank trailer, and the hoses / cables will be added once the trailer and tractor unit are joined.
Work is now underway adapting the fuel hose reels from the Tamiya kit, and I hope to get these finished and installed within the next couple of days, after painting the interior of the pump house and the equipment.
