Went out on a compass swing last night and by coincidence I had my camera at work, so I took it with me. Beautiful light.

Thanks for looking.

Compass swings on MiG-15s are a b*****. The windscreen and canopy frames are steel and have to be degaussed before you do the swing and even then it is only accurate for a short time as the main electrical harness is so close to the canopy.
The Polish AF only had an RMI but Aus CASA insist on the old magnetic compass being fitted and carded.

we've had some beaut evening of late

Hi Steve, we've been having some wicked sunsets lately, but I don't always have my camera at work and I'm not really supposed to be wandering around an active airport with a camera! Nonetheless, I took it in for some research I'm doing into the RNZAF side of the airport and what remains. The guys always give me crap about being a planespotter, but I can wear it! I'm also capturing images around the hangars since with all the redundancies and the shifting of heavy maintenance to Chch, the place is gonna change completely. I feel its worth capturing the scenes for posterity. We are moving out of the old hangar and back into the new hangar once heavy goes, so seeing it cluttered with heavy crap will disappear.
