So I buy really badly done/not completely done model kits to fix up and this is my newest project I put on the black, the cowl decals(not done yet), and painted the wheels and wheel areas ^ the Aluminum paint needs a touch up

First of all I would remove all the paint from the model. Because the model was assembled quite long ago there shouldn't be a trouble of detaching of the cockpit canopy for instance. Undoubtedly it requires some of touch in order to get the proper lucency. Also the fuselage area of the cockpit may need to be cleaned and it seems that many other details too. But where there's a will, there's a way. IMHO.

I've done it a few times with models of my own that I originally built as a kid, but it's been a while.

I have'nt so far but I do have a ton of 1:72 scale WW2 RAF planes I built when I was a kid and some of them are dreadful looking. Perhaps when I run out of new kits....might take a while though.
