I'm the same Andy, print more than I need and sometimes for effect over lay the decals if needed. Also paint a couple of coats of setting solution on them the next day when the ink is completely dry.

No setting solution going on here. I don't trust it on my ink jet decals and on my Futured clear parts as I've had fogging in the past. Just good old dabbing with a Q-Tip and, when done, another dip in Future.

The first application of rivet decals. Not bad, not great. Jury is out.....

Whilst waiting for the decals to cure, I tackled the wing assembly. I decided to pose the flaps deployed so carefully sawed them out as follows. On the top surface, I only cut the seams parallel to the long axis and just scored the hinged sections so that I could bend them down without breaking them off. The flap pieces on the lower wing sections were completely cut out and will be glued in separately to fit properly into the opening that is left. I favour this technique over completely separating the flaps as it saves a lot of work reforming the flaps with a rounded leading edge and trying to get them to fit back into the opening. The only tricky part is filling in the exposed gaps revealed by the lowered flaps but this will be done with careful puttying.

Thanks Vic. These decals have very poor density and what you see above is actually TWO decals overlaid to get an appropriate level of blackness. Suddenly my 50% extra prints won't be enough and I'll need to make more.

I think I'll continue with this approach as I'm less enthused about any alternatives I've thought of.

Good stuff Andy, especially on the flaps. Looking at the decals for the rivets, I don't think that approach would work on my Ju 87, where clear perspex is joined by a line of rivets. However, if I used strips of clear, or perhaps slightly yellow-toned clear decal with dark 'spots' for the rivets, that might work for me.

Just a thought outside the box.
Use a drill to make a recess, smear with black acrylic paint and then polish off???????

Thanks for the thoughts Bill. These rivets are just over a millimeter apart so I would never be able to drill at such small, even spaces. This aircraft is very unique and this is the look I need to emulate:
