Nice touch on the canopy handles! I almost didn't see the interior ones but that is a sign of how well they were implemented.
 
Thanks all. I appreciate the comments. The interior ones too several tries. I think one failed attempt is lodged in the cockpit floor somewhere and will need to be retreived.

Geo, I find that the aluminum tape has plenty of stick on its own so I don't add anything else. I have not had anything come apart yet to m knowledge, though I haven't gone looking.
 
Very nice work Andy, I especially like the effect of the tail light.
Don't know if you want to add it, but there was a handle beneath the step tread, to allow it to be pulled down, the action of which also opened the flap on the hand hold. The handle was in the form of a shallow loop of thin metal strip.
I should have a pic of it somewhere if you need it.
 
Terry, thanks. I do have a close-up pic of this feature. I considered it but it was too fine a feature for the mood I was in at the time so I left it off.

Well, that's it guys. This one is done and destined for the shelf. I was about to edit and post my finished pics when I saw that I messed up the white balance. I'll redo the pics and post them shortly.
 
Yep, I did the same and left it off almost all the steps I've made. I was consoled by the fact that, in 'real life', this handle often got quite bent, and was not always visible, being crushed up against the step itself.
Apart from that, having made a few, they are very easily dislodged, there being little area to glue.
 
OK, here we are. I will just throw these up and not add comments in between. Since the previous pictures, I've added the antenna wires using nylon invisible mending thread, painted the tail wheel and gave it a dusty spray, added the mirror to the mount (used aluminum tape), and added the tiny PE wheel lock switches to the wheel hubs. The oil stains on the underside were left on but toned down with an overspray of thinned grey paint. All in all, I really liked the work I did on this one, especially the cockpit tubular structure scratch build. I'm please with the heavily weathered look depicting the harsh desert environment but am not sure it will go over well in a contest, if I choose to enter it. My satisfaction with the build is diminished by the rather clunky details of the Hobbycraft kit. I'm looking forward to trying my hand at the Italeri MkI kit, which looks like a beaut. I think it's a cracker Andy, and more so considering the limitations of the kit. As for a Mk1, the forthcoming Airfix kit looks to be very good indeed.
