Coming along nicely Geo, and got me wanting to do mine - maybe another entry, if I get the Heinkel done in time.

Thanks Hugh. Internet sucked immensely in camp this week, some days it wouldn't work at all so I've had 7 pages of catch-up in the last five hours; two more pages to go.................

I got quite a few detail shots of the defiant now at Cosford Geo - let me know if you'd like copies, and I'll either post them here and / or send larger images via e-mail.
Examples below.

Send away Terry, greatly appreciated. Thought I would show the AML masks while I'm waiting for the model to dry off after a bath. The instructions: note the letters attached to the individual masks and the lack thereof on the masks themselves. I like how the extend passed the model to prevent over-spray. Not noticed when I purchased this was that there is masking for the top/bottom demarcation. I also noticed what looks like two piece roundel masks though this isn't shown on the instructions

I still haven't found a build on the WEB using this so I will be your guinea pig

Interested to see how those masks go Geo. I've done a home-brew version of this before by photocopying the instructions up to the appropriate size and then cutting out the camo pattern complete with overhang tabs, but that was difficult to do for the parts that go up and over the fuselage.

Thanks guys. Again many thanks Terry. I've thought of doing that as well Kirby and even considered the problem of the fuselage area. I got a new Epson printer last year and I can't seem to control resizing scanned material. No problems with my old HP and Canon printers but this one just seems to have basic functions. Anyhoo.........I primed the model yesterday with Vallejo Grey Surface Primer and let it set, 12 hours recommended, I give it 24. Just finished putting down Vallejo's version of "Sky" or "Verde Huevo Pato" as they call it.

Just watched a video showing a guy spraying Vallejo's Model Color brand. I've heard this was very hard to do but he thinned it 50/50 with "Flow Improver" and it worked great. Happy about this as I have many bottles and the colors are more accurate than several of the early Model Air offerings

Nicely done Geo, and the shade looks right on my monitor. The actual shade did vary, so anything close is good enough, although some paints are way 'off' in their interpretation.
I've only used Vallejo Model Colour once. I'm not really keen on acrylics, but of those I've used, this was the best above all, and sprayed without problem, using ordinary 'tap water' as a thinner. This means you get twice as much paint, compared to using Model Air, and it can be applied by brush from the bottle, with a second coat giving a good , solid finish, unlike many acrylics, which are not very suited to good brush painting.
