Thanks for calling in folks. Got more done today and here is the update.
All undercarriage, wheel well and doors were in a light gray colour.
The added air intakes on each side and the contaminated air vent. From the few pics I could find, the air intakes were quite small but the outlet varied so I went for the wide vent as I happen to have a spare that would fit the bill (modellers license).
Wings duly clipped so that they could fit the F4U into the smaller British aircraft carriers.
Almost ready for the top coat colouring process, it will be fun and possibly frustrating. I'm not going to fit the outer wing until later, hopefully it may make some of the spraying and weathering easier.
The FAA Corsairs had a different propeller that was broader and quite rounded at the ends, so had to improvise and fit new blades.

Interesting the FAA had the earler prop too - so did all the RNZAF birds, regsrdless of type. (We used the F4U-1A, -1D, and FG-1D Corsair, 424 in total)

Moving on we have the colour parade.

1st chromate undercoat of green-yellow.
Second chromate coating ofBarbie Pink...........sorry salmon. Note the outer wings and propeller missing, these were just chromate green-yellow having been contract built outside the Vought factory.
