Borne on June 10th, 1915 at Innsbruck/Tyrol, Austrian-Hungary Empire (Austria). Josef Heinzeller who I believe was a member of the post war aerobatic team was an ace credited with 35 kills. He began his combat career with LG 2 before assignment to JG 3. From here in June 1942, he was transferred to JG 2 Richthofen. Heinzeller also served with 1./JG 54 on the Eastern font at Schrunden, Latvia flying a Fw190A-8 "White 12" serving as Staffelkapitän until May 1944, he would serve out the war with this unit. Josef Heinzeller had his Fw 190A-3, as he did his previous Bf 109E and Fs with JG 2 and JG 3, adorned with a rendition of his Schnauzer on the engine cowl. The "Old Shap" inscription was carried under the cockpit on the left side. Josef Heinzeller moved to the United States after the war and gained U.S. citizenship, he died on November 9th, 1989.

Here is a transcript of one of Josef Heinzeller sorties:
With the introduction of Fw190A-2s into 1./JG2 combat victories were on the increase with no less than 37 Spitfire victories claimed in June 1942 when operating from Triqueville in France. One of these victories came on the 19th, when Oberleutnant Julius Meimberg and Oberfeldwebel Josef Heinzeller took off for a fighter sweep east of Portsmouth. Two patrolling Spitfires of 129 Squadron, flown by Sgt's Bernard Mccormack and Eugene Irish, were bounced by the two 190s. As the squadron's record book noted: "Section on patrol Selsey to St Caterines Point received various vectors and told that fighters were at 3,000 ft. As they came out of thick haze at 2,000 ft, and started to orbit left as instructed, two 190s dived from above and behind and Sgt Mccormack was shot down in flames crashing at Siddlesham. Sgt Irish (Blue 1) chased and fired at both enemy aircraft but saw no results, although is certain he hit the leader. Sgt Irish (wounded in the leg during the bounce) had hit Fw190A-2, W.Nr 0325, "Yellow 13" flown by Heinzeller, damaging the engine. Spraying out oil and his fighter "….looking like a sardine in a tin of oil", he struggled back to Triquecille.

Thanks for the comments Gents. Made a bit of a start yesterday, it's a very basic kit so not a lot of detail.

All the guns are moulded plastic that look good but as sure as eggs is eggs, I would end up breaking them off somewhere along the build so I'm using my own posh ones.

As it so happens, with the moulded gins on the wing fit is a but suss. So with relics off they came.

I knew that the cannon went into the wheel wells but didn't realise that they were also moulded in the bays, so I had to hack them out.

Last pic for today shows the temporarily fitted cannon and guns.

Next up the nose mounted machine guns, again moulded to the gun cowling. :D

Thanks for the comments guys, very much appreciated. Worked on the nose guns today and splashed a bit of paint around.

The moulded kit nose machine gun.

Moulding removed and my fancy brass ones fitted (temporarily).

I inserted a small support piece of plastic and drilled this out.

The paint splashing, a mixture of SMS PL179 (RLM75) and SMS PL188 (RLM02).

Next up the cockpit and its trimmings. :D

Thanks for looking in folks and my thanks for the kind comments.

Moving on, I took the option of using the PE set as the kit IP seemed to be a little lacking and I will admit to not having the desire to fiddle with all those dials and such.
The PE and kit IP parts. In the second pic you will see the PE has been reinforced at the back as it is quite frail for handling.

Now we have the assembled cockpit with all its fine detail.

Next will be the struggle to get it into position for though it's PE for a Tamiya kit, I do not see this fitting that easily.
:D
