1962 promo to Sergent. 1965 demoted to Caporal-Chef at his own request, served with the 1er Régiment
Etranger. Due to failing health, he lived since 1970 in a soldiers home for Legionaires in Puylobier/France, the
Institution des Invalides de la Legion Etrangere. Credited with 879 combat missions and 102 air victories.
†02.06.2003 in Puyloubier 25 km NE of Marseille/France. Buried in the Foreign Legion Cemetery
