  2. Appell Flak Batterie

After the outbreak of the Second World War, the Arcona and its only sister ship Medusa, which had served as a residential ship since their cancellations, were converted to float anti-aircraft batteries in 1940. The Arcona was built from the 15th century. April 1940 until the 25th to the 25th May 1940 converted at the Deutsche Werke Kiel and served from 27. May 1940 first in Swinemünde at M.A.A. 233. The ships were towed and anchored there. As a flak battery, the Arcona replaced 2,650 tonnes, at only 5.0 m draft. Their armament consisted of four heavy 10.5 cm L/45 fla guns, two 4.0 cm flak and six 2.0 cm fla machine guns. The ship was built in May 1945 in the II.
