The C-46 Commando was the lesser known and more capable of the two main twin engine transports used by the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. It could fly higher, faster and farther than the better known C-47 (DC-3). Because of these abilities it was used mostly in the China-Burma-India and Pacific theaters of war where it received much less "Press" than its Douglas brother.

The aircraft I depicted here is a fictional C-46 of the Air Transport Command flying the "Hump" from Chabua India to Kunming China.

Taking the pictures was almost as challenging as building the model due it its size. Please forgive my model table peaking out around the corners of some of the pictures.

Thanks everyone.
There were a few times that I almost gave up on it but I'm glad I didn't.
I just put it on the display shelf next to the B-17 and boy, it makes that Fortress look small!
